AI Can Make Content

We need to talk about AI.

Actually, no.

Everyone has been talking about AI.

Let's talk about what happens after everyone starts using it.

A caption in seconds. A blog in minutes. An image from a sentence. Twenty headline options before your coffee arrives.

Marketing has never been easier to produce.

Which creates a slightly awkward problem.

Welcome to the sea of sameness.

When everyone can make more content… we get a lot more content.

You have probably seen it already. The suspiciously perfect LinkedIn post. The overly enthusiastic caption. The ad with beautiful people who somehow don't look entirely human. The blog containing 1,700 words and approximately zero thoughts.

AI has dramatically lowered the barrier to creating. It hasn't lowered the barrier to being interesting.

And that's where brands need to pay attention.

AI isn't the problem. Boring is.

We're not anti-AI. That would be a strange hill for a digital agency to die on.

AI can be incredibly useful for research, brainstorming, iteration, analysis, production and a hundred other things.

The problem starts when brands confuse faster output with better marketing.

Twenty mediocre posts aren't automatically better than five brilliant ones. Producing more isn't a strategy. Producing something worth noticing is.

Your imperfections might actually be useful.

AI is very good at recognising patterns. Brands become interesting when they're willing to break them.

A strange sense of humour. An unexpected opinion. A founder who actually speaks like a human. A slightly weird visual style. A story only your business could tell. An observation your competitors haven't made.

Those things create personality. And personality is difficult to manufacture by simply typing: "Make this engaging and Gen Z."

Originality is becoming more valuable, not less.

As AI makes competent content easier to produce, competence alone becomes less impressive. The bar moves.

Brands need something AI can't pull from everybody else's playbook: their own point of view.

Show the process. Show the people. Tell the uncomfortable story. Share what failed. Take a position. Make an inside joke. Create something specific enough that it couldn't belong to twelve other brands. That's branding.

Use AI backstage. Keep humans on stage.

The smartest approach isn't necessarily: Human vs. AI. It's: Human + AI, with the human still making the important decisions.

Let AI help you research faster. Explore more ideas. Analyse more data. Automate repetitive work. Create variations. Then let humans decide what deserves to exist.

Because technology can help you make something. Taste decides whether you should.
